La band si è aggiudicata l'ambito premio di album dell'anno alla cerimonia musicale
LOS ANGELES - Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, Country Winston e Ted Dwayne, componenti del gruppo folk britannico Mumford & Sons, nominato in cinque categorie, ha ottenuto ieri sera un Grammy per l’album «Babel». Tra i nominati c’erano anche Jack White («Blunderbuss»), Frank Ocean («Channel Orange»), Fun. («Some Nights») e i The Black Keys («El Camino»).
Durante la serata la band ha ottenuto un riconoscimento anche nella sezione miglior video per Big Easy Express.
Anche i Fun. hanno fatto incetta di premi: dal Grammy per la miglior canzone con We Are Young a quello come «best new artist», dove hanno superato la concorrenza di Frank Ocean, The Lumineers, Haunter Hayes e Alabama Shakes. Per i ragazzi, che da oltre dieci anni fanno musica, è stato un momento di svolta.
«Visto che questo evento viene trasmesso in HD, potete vedere bene le nostre facce e non siamo giovani», hanno commentato ironici.
Ricevendo il premio per il best solo pop album anche Kelly Clarkson ha voluto rendere omaggio ai Fun. «Adoro la vostra canzone», ha affermato.
Durante la serata Gotye e Kimbra hanno portato a casa il «record of the year» grazie al singolo Somebody That I Use to Know, mentre Adele ha vinto «best pop solo performance» con Set Fir to the Rain (Live).
Tra gli altri premiati, Beyoncé (best traditional R&B preformance con Love on Top), Jay-Z e Kanye West (best rap performance per N****s In Paris), Rihanna (best short form music video per We Found Love con Calvin Harris) e Taylor Swift (best song fot visual media con la colonna sonora di «Hunger Games» Safe & Sound).
Sul palco dello Staples Centre i più grandi musicisti del mondo hanno offerto le loro performance live. Tra questi, Taylor Swift, Elton John, T Bone Burnett, the Zac Brown Band, Mavis Staples, Mumford & Sons e Justin Timberlake, di scena all’evento per la prima volta dopo quattro anni.
